Subshrubs or perennial herbs; stem simple, 0.6-1 m tall, densely leafy.
Leaves sword-shaped, 1-1.8 m long, 10-15 cm wide, dark green, more or less pruinose, rather rigid, foetid when bruised, apex acute to acuminate; margins with shallow-grooved spines, prickles absent.
Scape arising from center of rosette, 5-8 m tall, much branched upward, densely flowered; flowers erect, 5-6 cm long, green to yellowish green, often containing much nectar, very foetid in the evening; perianth tube 1-1.8 cm long; segments oblong, 3-4 cm long, with a tuft of hairs on the inner side; stamens 6, filaments inserted above middle of the perianth tube; accrescent during anthesis.
Capsules subglobose.

台灣 : introduced to Taiwan in 1890, widely cultivated in the southern tip of the island, sometimes escaping.
